This was my first independently developed research project, completed under the supervision of Dr. Aytar. The work became an important turning point in my academic development and contributed to my receiving two departmental honors: the 2025 Julie Honnold Outstanding Sociology Student Award and the 2025 Senior Researcher Award.

I began with a mixed methods approach because I wanted to examine the early institutionalization of artificial intelligence from more than one perspective. As the project developed, I became increasingly interested in how AI was becoming embedded across intimacy, politics, and biology, and in how complexity theory could help explain the relationships among these domains. By the middle of the research process, I understood that this work could become the foundation for a broader series examining other institutional settings, including education, housing, and labor.
